Monsoon Window Picker
Pick your month based on what you actually want to do — not a generic "best time to visit".
Unique: scores each month against your specific activity, not a single "best time".
What this solves
The Maldives has two monsoon seasons: NE monsoon (Dec–Mar, dry, calmer) and SW monsoon (Jun–Nov, wetter, more wind). "Best time" depends entirely on what you're doing — surfers want SW monsoon divers and honeymooners want NE monsoon. This tool scores each month against your specific activity.
How to read results
- 5: peak month for this activity.
- 4: very good, slightly off-peak.
- 3: workable, may have some compromises.
- 2: suboptimal for this activity.
- 1: avoid for this activity.
Limitations
Even in low season, most resort days are sunny with short heavy showers. Real weather in any month can be unusual — always check the 7-day forecast close to travel.
FAQ
Is wet season really that bad?
No — SW monsoon (Jun–Nov) brings more rain and wind but also the best marine-life encounters and the lowest prices. Many regular visitors prefer it.
When is peak wedding season?
November to March is the dry, calm, photogenic window. Book 6–12 months ahead for resort wedding slots.
